The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is set to become the beating heart of Lombok this September, with a month-long calendar of automotive, sporting, and lifestyle events designed to attract thousands of domestic and international visitors.
This vibrant programme is expected to give West Nusa Tenggara’s tourism sector a major boost, fuelling demand for hotels, restaurants, transport, catering, and local MSMEs. Beyond tourism receipts, the events will create wider employment opportunities, with thousands of volunteers and marshals recruited ahead of MotoGP, scheduled for 3–5 October 2025.

A Festival of Events in September
Far from being a single-race venue, Mandalika Circuit is positioning itself as Indonesia’s new sports and lifestyle hub. This September, the south Lombok coastline will host:
Mini Jaksel (5–6 September 2025)
A nostalgic celebration of the legendary Mini Cooper. The event includes a classic car parade along the world-class track, exhibitions, culinary bazaars, and live music. It highlights Mandalika’s versatility as a venue for more than just high-speed motorcycle racing.
Pocari Sweat Run Lombok (12–14 September 2025)
One of Indonesia’s largest running festivals returns, attracting thousands of athletes from across Asia. The course showcases Lombok’s unique beauty—from white-sand beaches to rolling green hills—blending sports with tourism. Visitors are expected to extend their stays, exploring Lombok’s attractions, dining on local cuisine, and contributing directly to the island’s economy.

Mandalika Racing Series – Round 4 (19–21 September 2025)
The headline motorsport event of the month. As Indonesia’s flagship programme for nurturing young racing talent, this competition gives rising stars the chance to perform on a world-class circuit, while thrilling spectators with speed and precision. The series further cements Mandalika’s reputation as Southeast Asia’s motorsport hub.
Tourism and Economic Ripple Effect
The September line-up is designed not only to entertain but also to stimulate the local economy. From hotels and restaurants to transport services and small businesses, the wave of visitors will be felt across West Nusa Tenggara.
Priandhi Satria, President Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), emphasised Mandalika’s evolving role:
“September’s events prove that Mandalika is more than just a MotoGP host. We are building an inclusive, multi-event destination that benefits the wider community and strengthens tourism across Lombok.”
He added that MGPA’s goal is to ensure every event generates tangible benefits for local people, not only through economic gains but also through skills development and new opportunities for youth engagement.
This growth is also sparking renewed interest in Lombok’s real estate sector, with lifestyle-led projects such as Eastern Edge in Pengantap Bay reflecting the island’s long-term potential beyond tourism.
Mandalika: Beyond the Circuit
Strategically located on Lombok’s breathtaking southern coastline, Mandalika is quickly gaining recognition as Indonesia’s premier sports tourism destination. With seamless synergy between government initiatives, private investment, and community involvement, it is evolving into a hub that blends world-class motorsport with cultural experiences, wellness, and adventure tourism.
September 2025 will demonstrate this transformation in action:
- Mini Jaksel (5–6 Sept) – automotive nostalgia meets lifestyle festival.
- Pocari Sweat Run Lombok (12–14 Sept) – health, fitness, and Lombok’s stunning scenery.
- Mandalika Racing Series Round 4 (19–21 Sept) – motorsport excitement on the global stage.
Looking Ahead

With MotoGP just around the corner in October, the September calendar is the perfect prelude to Indonesia’s biggest sporting spectacle. For Lombok, it means more than just tourism numbers—it signals a future where Mandalika stands as a global stage for sports, culture, and economic growth.
As Priandhi concluded:
“Mandalika is not only a circuit. It is a catalyst for creativity, sports tourism, and sustainable economic development in Indonesia.”
As Lombok continues its transformation, opportunities are expanding not only for tourism but also for those looking to call the island home. Developments like Eastern Edge represent this next chapter, where elegant design meets the natural beauty of Lombok’s southern coast.
